VFR flight planning – from aircraft to complete briefing in five minutes

BriefingPal computes weight & balance and takeoff/landing performance from the official POH data of more than 100 aircraft types, plans your route with terrain and weather, and compiles NOTAMs, METARs and TAFs into one briefing PDF. Free, no account, in your browser.

Route across the Alps in the 3D weather map: terrain, clouds, METAR/TAF stations and the pass traffic light – all at the planned departure time.
Weight & Balance Calculator

Weight and centre of gravity against the type's CG envelope – takeoff, landing and zero fuel at a glance.

Takeoff & Landing Distance

Takeoff and landing performance from the POH charts, checked against the runway's TORA and LDA.

VFR Flight Planning & Routing

Route on the map, airspace, passes, terrain profile, navigation log with frequencies, export to SkyDemon & Co.

NOTAM, METAR & TAF Briefing

Weather and NOTAMs along your route, decoded and valid for your departure time – as a briefing PDF.

How it works

  1. Pick the aircraftEnter a registration (e.g. G-ABCD, N12345) or manufacturer and model – stored weighing data is applied automatically.
  2. Enter the loadingPeople, baggage and fuel; CG envelope, takeoff weight and landing weight appear instantly.
  3. Set route and airfieldsChoose departure, destination and alternate or click the route on the map; terrain profile, airspace and passes are checked.
  4. Export the briefingWeather, NOTAMs, performance and navigation log as PDF – the route as GPX for SkyDemon, ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot.

Why BriefingPal?

POH data instead of rules of thumb

Every type is captured with station arms, CG envelope, takeoff/landing charts and climb performance from its Pilot's Operating Handbook – with the source quoted.

One tool instead of five tabs

W&B, performance, route, weather, NOTAM and PDF in one place. The numbers connect: the route's trip fuel sets your landing weight.

For clubs and your own registration

Store weighing data per registration or upload the POH page – flying clubs register their fleet in minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Is BriefingPal really free?

Yes. BriefingPal runs in the browser without sign-up and without cost. There is no premium tier and no advertising inside the app.

Which aircraft are covered?

More than 100 types and over 200 model variants of general aviation – Cessna, Piper, Cirrus, Mooney, Diamond, Beechcraft, Robin, Tecnam, Pipistrel, many LSA/ultralights and some turboprops. If a type is missing, the POH page can be uploaded directly.

Does BriefingPal replace the official briefing?

No. BriefingPal is a planning aid. The original POH/AFM, the AIP, the official NOTAM briefing and current weather remain authoritative. The pilot in command is responsible for flight preparation.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, the page is designed for smartphones and tablets. No installation is needed; the airfield database is also available offline.

Where do the weather and NOTAM data come from?

METAR and TAF from the worldwide Aviation Weather Center data set, NOTAMs from the FAA NOTAM database, model weather from ICON-D2, ICON-CH, ICON-EU, ECMWF and GFS, rain radar from MeteoSwiss. Every source is shown in the app.
